It’s been two months since the release of Grandeur’s first album, “To Make a Long Story Short,” but band co-founder Dylan White says his band still doesn’t quite fit in to the local music scene. But that’s not a bad thing.
   “We’ve played plenty of shows since the album came out, but we always seem to stick out. There’s no one else in the area who is really playing the type of music we’re playing,” said White, 19, of Somerset.
   Grandeur’s sound, he said, draws from influences ranging from the Beatles and Neil Young to Incubus.
   “It’s modern and it’s poppy. I guess it’s poppy folk rock,” White said. “It’s just hard, fast-paced, folky rock.”
   The band formed last summer, when White and his older brother, guitarist Adam White, teamed with Johnstown bass player Dustin Michaels and UPJ student Wes Cramer on drums.
   “We’ve been getting a lot of online response, which is great,” said White, adding that the band’s friend list on myspace already has grown from 500 to 5,000.
   The band has played several shows in Johnstown, as well as performances in Bedford and Pittsburgh.

I've known this song well over a year now and it will never die out. Best of
luck guys, your the best band i've heard out of this contest thus far

Mike Miller: "The subtilties of the acoustic guitar and the piano, mixed in
with the "big" sound these guys seem to be all about, really make this
an interesting listen. The structure is complicated without ever losing a pop
sensiblity, and in the end, this is just a very well-written song."

I really like this song. The style makes me think of Yellowcard a bit. I hope

ryancunning : This is why having everyone vote for all four people in the final round was a bad idea. Look at the final results.. with rounding everyone had the same online score! Jackie Kopco technically got third place because she had higher online votes.

admin : That is correct smith. I haven't seen the final results as of yet. I'd look for the results in Our Town on the 14th. I'll post them up on the website as well though.
smith : The only difference is that at the start of the 4th round the final 4 started from scratch again
